Reflections from Energy Technology Live

Neil and John at the Energy Technology Live show

Following this year’s conference, we reflect on the event’s themes, trends, keynotes and panel sessions, as well as the insightful discussions that took place with businesses keen to embrace the full potential of onsite renewable energy.

With a targeted audience of industry experts, a wealth of exhibiting businesses and a diverse presentation schedule, the show offered an ideal opportunity to engage with representatives from across the industry. What became immediately clear was that the commercial advantages of distributed energy would prove a hot topic throughout the event, with businesses keen to understand the latest technologies and funding options to best suit their needs.

As an event sponsor, we were at the heart of the debate around financing renewables and the key role that battery storage can play in delivering optimal benefits. Indeed, our Chief Commercial Officer, Miles Thomas took to the stage to present a keynote on the emerging role of battery storage in the commercial energy landscape of tomorrow, while Investment Director, Ben Cameron joined thought leaders from across the renewable energy supply chain for a panel discussion surrounding the opportunity to unlock asset capital to drive net zero goals.

Throughout the event, we spoke to many businesses who were keen to explore their options. The overall feel from these conversations is that advances in technology and progressive funding models, such as PPAs, are making adoption of onsite renewables and battery energy storage more accessible than ever before. Many businesses highlighted the complexity of distributed energy solutions, such as different battery technologies and commercial options. We were able to give them confidence through the work we have done to simplify access to new opportunities in this market.

The impact of legislation, a rapidly changing policy landscape designed to accelerate decarbonisation, potential global energy price volatility and a desire to strengthen energy resilience were all factors driving a desire to decarbonise among businesses.

Energy Technology Live provided the perfect opportunity to bring real world insight to businesses keen to embrace the clean, sustainable and flexible energy systems of the future. The good news is that the technology, the funding and the expertise are all there making renewable adoption easier than ever.
